Upcoming Games

Codemasters has announced Dirt Rally 2.0 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 with all versions launching on 26th February. Players can look forward to six rally locations spread across the globe, including New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Australia, and the USA. As the official game of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, it will include eight of the official WorldRX circuits at launch, as well as cars from the 2018 season. [link]

Bethesda has released a new Fallout 76 video and announced that the beta will start on 23rd October on Xbox One with the PC and PS4 getting access a week later on 30th October. [link]

The cast of Shovel Knight are joining Ubisoft’s Brawlhalla game. I’ll be honest and say that when I first saved this link I thought it was Hollow Knight and I was super excited; now, not so much. [link]

Mojang has announced Minecraft: Dungeons, a new role-playing game set in the Minecraft universe. It’s an overhead-view dungeon crawler, populated by monsters and familiar figures from the Minecraft world and will launch on PC at some point next year. [link]

Re-Releases

Nintendo has announced that a localized version of Yo-Kai Watch 3 will be coming to North America for the 3DS on 8th February. A European version of the game will also be released later this year. [link]

DLC and Updates

Telltale Games are working with multiple potential partners in order to finish off The Walking Dead: The Final Season. It’s not definitely happening but there is some hope that the full game will be released at some point. For now, the game has been removed from sale on digital storefronts. [link]

Frontier Developments have released some information about a free Planet Coaster 1.8 update that is coming soon. It’ll add restaurants, new scenery, and multiple improvements. A paid piece of DLC will also be launching alongside the update but they are waiting a little bit longer before revealing it. [link]

Ironhide Game Studio has added a new planet named Borealis to Iron Marines. The update also features 3 new premium heroes. [link]

Darkest Dungeon will be getting The Color of Madness DLC on Switch, Xbox One, and iOS on 11th October. Red Hook says PS4 and Vita versions are “close behind” but have not yet cleared certification. [link]

Hardware

The GeForce RTX 2070 will be released on 17th October. [link]

Facebook has announced that the Oculus Quest (previously codenamed “Santa Cruz”) will be available in spring 2019 at a cost of $399. The Quest is an entirely wireless “six degrees of freedom” VR system with apparently legitimate 3D power and no required PC or phone. Oculus Quest will not be natively compatible with Oculus Rift software on the PC, but Zuckerberg talked about getting more popular VR games onto the Quest in the future. [link]

Razer is aiming for next-level immersion with its new Nari Ultimate, a wireless gaming headset with little motors inside to jar your brain matter using an “advanced haptic technology” named HyperSense. Beyond the haptic feedback, the Nari Ultimate features THX Spatial Audio as found in Razer’s Kraken Tournament Edition headset. [link]

Software

Phil Spencer has announced that mouse and keyboard support is coming to Xbox One. [link]

Nvidia has begun pushing out its second public GPU driver release (411.70) supporting its recently launched RTX 2080 cards. While not listed in the release notes, TechPowerUp found that the new driver reduces idle power consumption on both the 2080 Ti and 2080 compared to the previous driver release. [link]

AMD has a new driver package available (18.9.3) that is optimized for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Forza Horizon 4. [link]

Business

Sony is finally allowing cross-platform play for Fortnite with a new beta. [link]

Fallout 76 does not support cross-platform play. [link]

Cool Shit

A new indie website lets you convert your PUBG replays into top down 2D representations similar to the hero mode in Breath of the Wild. [link]
